Studies show consumers make purchase decisions within 7 seconds of seeing a product on the shelf. Your label must win that battle. Here's how.
Label Materials — What's Available?
Material choice depends on where the label will be placed:
- White matte paper — Classic, economical, great for dry products (honey, tea, spices)
- White gloss paper — Vivid colours, great for jam, food products
- White vinyl — Water-resistant, great for water bottles, detergents
- Transparent BOPP — "No-label look" effect, product visible through label — premium
- Metallised (silver/gold) — Luxury look, great for wines, cosmetics, gifts
- Kraft/natural — Organic/eco feel, popular for artisanal products
Finishes — The Final Layer
Over the material, we apply additional finishes for different effects:
- Matte lamination — Elegant, fingerprint-resistant, no light reflection
- Gloss lamination — Vivid colours, moisture-resistant
- Spot UV — Shine only on logo or title — 3D visual effect
- Hot stamping (gold/silver) — Metal foil pressed with heat — maximum premium
- Die-cut (custom shape) — Non-standard shape: round, oval, custom
Cases by Sector
Albanian wines: The most successful materials are 90g cream paper + matte lamination + spot UV on logo. Often with oval or bottle-shape die-cut. The wine label is often the primary reason the bottle is purchased.
Artisanal honey: Natural kraft 80g + clay/brown fill colour + handwritten font. Communicates authenticity and artisanal quality.
Cosmetics: Transparent BOPP or silver metallised + CMYK printing + velvet lamination. Consumers see the product through the label — instant trust.
Cleaning products: Water-resistant white vinyl + gloss lamination. Label won't peel when bottle is washed.
Format and Size
Optimal label size depends on the container (bottle, jar, box). General recommendation:
- 0.75L wine bottle → 90×120mm front label + 70×80mm back label
- 250g honey jar → ø70mm round lid + 80×60mm side label
- 200ml cosmetic bottle → 50×100mm
